4-K CLUB CREA-TEA-VE CHALLENGE

We are pleased to announce yet another 4-K Club Competition.

The 4-K Clubs Programme in collaboration with the Tea Board of Kenya (TBK) is pleased to bring to you the 4-K Club Crea-Tea-Ve Challenge with the Theme: Championing Youth Involvement in Kenya Tea.

Tea is one of the value chains targeted under the Government’s Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). The promotion of the crop and its associated activities is therefore important in the Kenya Tea Industry’s objective of empowering youth in Kenya to be involved in tea business through practical training on agricultural practices, business development skills, leveraging on technology and market development. This will guarantee sustainable growth and effective competitiveness of Kenya teas in the local and international markets.

The 4-K Club Crea-Tea-Ve Challenge was launched on 5th December 2023 in Western Zone and on 8th December 2023 in the Eastern Zone respectively. It is open to all 4-K Clubs in the Tea growing zones.

The challenge has three entry categories:
i. Value Addition
ii. Digital Content Creation
iii. New Product Development

Participants will choose only one entry category and choose only one of the following modes of presentation i.e. song, art, poem, skit, digital content, cookery or other appropriate.

The competition will help to identify talent and innovativeness among learners realizing the tea promise. The winners will be awarded a three-day trip, trophies, medals and other prizes from the organizers. Ultimately this competition will promote the interest in the production and consumption of tea as well as inculcate a positive mindset towards agriculture among young populations.

To participate, the school must have registered a 4-K Club. The following will be required for registration to participate in the competition:

• Registration Number: the registration number in the 4-K Club Registration Certificate
• Entry Option: Individual or Group
• Project Entry Category: Digital Content Creation, Value Addition or New Product Development
• Brief Project Description: Briefly describe how the participants will participate in the competition, whether by song, poem, dance etc and if possible, indicate the topic
• Contact Person: Name of 4-K Club Patron
• Contact Number: Patrons telephone number
• Contact Email: Patron’s email address
• Number of Boys: Total number of boys in the 4-K Club
• Number of Girls: Total number of girls in the 4-K Club
